Welcome to my New Zealand Shipping Company collection website. I hope that the photographs and Passenger Lists included on this site will contain information that helps with your research, whether that is genealogy or history.

My main interest is the history of Pitcairn Island, but as a progression from that, I have become interested in the New Zealand Shipping Company (NZSC). I started collecting postcards of the ships that called at Pitcairn Island from the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914, and I expanded into other memorabilia including Passenger Lists. It seems a shame to keep all this information to myself, so I thought I would share it on the internet and hope to raise a small amount of money to help in the fight against Cancer.

The NZSC provided a very important lifeline for the Pitcairn Islanders, keeping them in contact with the outside world in the days before they had radio. In return, the Island provided a welcome break in the long journey from Panama to New Zealand through the vast Pacific Ocean. Islanders traded fresh fruit and curios for food and clothing.

It is my hope that in exchange for viewing this collection, and maybe downloading PDF file copies of Passenger Lists, you will make a small donation to Cancer Research. Any donation will help, anything from £2.00 upwards (GBP). The money donated here will go to Cancer Research UK.

Donations from outside the UK are also very welcome. The donation system only accepts Pounds Sterling (£ GBP), but PayPal should be able to easily convert money for you. Credit cards are also accepted, but local banks/credit card companies may charge extra fees for international transactions. If in doubt, please check with them before donating.

IMPORTANT: Larger scans of most pictures on this site are available and will be emailed to you in exchange for an additional £2.00 donation to cancer research.
